This year we (The Burgenländische Amateur
Astronomers) decided to have our "2005 Astronomytrip" to the famous
Observatory of Mariazell (see here the place
http://ccdeder.freewebspace.com/index.htm
)...
At this late time of the year there is very often already snow in the
mountains in Austria. Mariazell is in such a case more easy accessible by
car. Anyhow, this time we were very lucky. During our stay from October 27th to October 31st
there was a so called "Kaiserwetter" = "Absolutely NO CLOUDS"
in Mariazell. 14 members of our club joined our
excursion during
these days. The observatory at Mariazell is located at 1008m above sealevel and
usually above the groundfog. During these 3 nights the weather was clear
but we got a lot of dew on the instruments. Best night was from Sunday 30th to
Monday 31st but only a few of us could stay this night.

Setup Telescopes |
Again our club members have brought a variety of different high quality telescopes
loaded with excellent photographic equipment to the meeting. Those without
scopes could also use the excellent equipment in the Mariazeller Observatory.
Thanks to Günther Eder, the CEO of the Mariazeller Astroteam who runs this
obervatory, this place is "heaven" for all astrophotographers. |
